Pit Crew Expectations

The pit crew plays a vital role in the success and safety of the Kawasaki Race Team. While our riders recover between runs, it is the responsibility of the pit crew to ensure both the motorcycle and rider are fully prepared for the next outing. Every member of the crew contributes to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and performance throughout every race event.

Following each run, the motorcycle should be safely returned to the paddock and secured on paddock stands. Tyre warmers must be fitted correctly and connected to a running generator to maintain optimum tyre temperature. The motorcycle should then undergo a thorough inspection, checking for any signs of damage, loose components, fluid leaks, unusual wear, or mechanical issues. Engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, chain condition, tyre pressures, and all other essential systems should be inspected before the machine is cleared for its next run. Refuelling should also be carried out whenever required to ensure the motorcycle is always race-ready.

The rider requires just as much attention as the motorcycle. Pit crew members should ensure that the rider is physically fit, properly hydrated, mentally focused, and comfortable before returning to the start line. Any signs of fatigue, injury, illness, or reduced concentration should be taken seriously and reported immediately.

If any concern arises regarding either the condition of the motorcycle or the wellbeing of the rider, it must be reported without delay to the Crew Chief. The Crew Chief has the final authority on whether a motorcycle is safe to compete and whether a rider is fit to continue. While the Kawasaki Race Team is committed to achieving competitive results and promoting motorcycle racing throughout the Channel Islands, safety will always take precedence over performance. No result or record is worth compromising the health of our riders or the safety of our team.

Every pit crew member is expected to work efficiently, communicate clearly, and uphold the professional standards of the Kawasaki Race Team. Their dedication behind the scenes is just as important as the performance delivered on the track.
